SWAMPSCOTT — The Zoning Board of Appeals continued its hearing on the 41-unit Veterans Crossing senior housing project to February 10. Chair Heather L. Roman said a draft decision now requires replacing a 6-inch water main on Pine Street with an 8-inch main for fire safety, a cost dispute the board hopes a MassWorks infrastructure grant already covering a nearby culvert relocation can resolve. Pine Street resident Steve Gadman said he worries construction "we're really concerned with all of this happening that we're going to end up with water in our basement." Attorney John Smolak represented applicant BBH Community Development; Director of Community and Economic Development Marzie Galazka is pursuing the expanded grant application.
The board plans a final vote February 10.
