SWAMPSCOTT — The Swampscott Zoning Board of Appeals voted 5-0 to approve a comprehensive permit for a 41-unit senior and veteran housing project on Pine Street and New Ocean Street. Chair Heather L. Roman and members Marc Kornitsky, Michelle M. Graham, Anthony H. Sanchez and Susan A. Sinrich backed the "Veterans Crossing" project by BBH Community Development LLC under Chapter 40B, after revising the draft decision to extend a compliance window from 30 to 45 days. Abutters Alicia McCarthy and Steve Gabbin pressed the board on traffic safety and a planned temporary tie-in to an aging six-inch water main pending a town culvert relocation.
"We've never seen a traffic study say that there's going to be an impact," Roman said. The board also continued a separate petition for 80 Puritan Road to its April 21 meeting.
