Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of April 21, 2026
Swampscott's Zoning Board of Appeals granted limited setback relief for a covered deck and previewed stormwater-driven bylaw changes. Four members approved a dimensional special permit letting Scott Miller's deck sit six feet from the side lot line where 7.5 feet is required. The decision made no findings on his 754-square-foot addition, which stays with the Planning Board.
DPW's Mark Noonan and Kleinfelder consultants Peter Varga and Elise Thompson then presented three amendments tied to the town's MS4 permit. They would allow parking reductions by special permit near transit, green infrastructure in parking lot islands, and compact spaces and permeable pavers in two overlay districts. The package goes to the Planning Board May 11 and Town Meeting in December.
