Solid Waste Advisory Committee · Meeting of March 2, 2026

Swampscott's Solid Waste Advisory Committee shortened a draft recycling survey for large apartment and condo buildings. Members trimmed the questionnaire, started by Emily Westhoven, to about nine questions, dropping items on trash collection and hauler names while keeping a yes-or-no question on whether recycling is offered. The committee did not vote on it.

Members debated a possible Salem-style bylaw against first gathering data, with one member saying the committee would be "their advocate." A member also said the town's roughly 65-page trash and recycling RFP should be finished this week, aiming for a July 1 turnover. Styrofoam and metal drop-off resumes in March, and the Repair Cafe is April 11.
