Solid Waste Advisory Committee · Meeting of September 15, 2026

SWAMPSCOTT — The Solid Waste Advisory Committee reviewed a drop-off day that brought in about 6.5 tons of metal. The DPW report on the recent drop-off said metal filled a 40-yard container, a 10-wheeler and a six-wheeler, compared with 4.77 tons in July. Members questioned a dumpster invoice that charged for two tons when the load weighed 1.2 and said they would seek a correction.

They also heard that residents are buying second carts, and a member said replacing damaged carts for free is "unsustainable." Members agreed on Saturday, Nov. 7 for the pumpkin toss, with the Repair Cafe set for Nov. 14.
