Select Board · Meeting of February 11, 2026

Swampscott Select Board ratified a three-year police union contract and split 4-1 on a liquor license expansion. Town Administrator Nicholas Connors said the Massachusetts Coalition of Police Local 417 deal, through June 30, 2028, carries raises of 3 percent, 2 percent and 3 percent plus a new education incentive "equivalent to a full Quinn" bill aimed at retention. Members voted 4-1 to let Richdale Swampscott convert to a full off-premises alcohol license, with one member saying "my no is strictly because I feel that it does not benefit the community having another liquor store within a half a mile." The board also heard that health insurance costs could rise as much as 14.5 percent and delayed, without a vote, a decision between two competing $100,000-plus and $1 million proposals to redevelop the town's Hawthorne building, pushing the choice to February 25.
