Swampscott School Committee voted to file a Statement of Interest for a Swampscott Middle School rebuild with the state. The committee and the Finance Committee met jointly to review a school budget trimmed from a $3.96 million increase request to $3.25 million. Max Casper told members the MSBA filing is only a first step, noting "it doesn't mean this is, yes, we're doing it, that we're going to get in." Finance Committee Chair Eric said his panel still finds "it's a challenge getting overall comfort with the budget," particularly around a Nahant tuition revolving fund projected to drop from $574,000 to $261,000 by fiscal 2027.
The committee also approved a memorandum of agreement with the Swampscott Education Association and $2,525 in donations for a new amateur radio club.
