Zoning Board continues roof project and withdraws facade application

Swampscott Zoning Board continued two petitions and withdrew a third without prejudice on January 20. Chair Heather L. Roman and board members Marc Kornitsky and Michelle M.
Graham unanimously voted to continue Petition 25-18 (B. Scott Miller, 80 Puritan Road roof addition) to February 10 and Petition 25-15 (BBH Community Development's 41-unit senior rental housing) to February 3. Applicant Peter Soulheris withdrew Petition 25-19 without prejudice.
The most extended debate centered on a 6-inch water main the senior housing project would tie into; peer reviewers flagged it as undersized and tuberculated, but town attorney Paul Haverty cautioned the applicant cannot bear responsibility for deferred municipal infrastructure maintenance unrelated to the project's sole benefit.
