SWAMPSCOTT — Solid Waste Advisory Committee approves prior minutes and updates 2025 waste data. Chair Wayne Spritz presented figures showing the town remains among the state's leaders in waste reduction with declining total waste, though the year was skewed by a three-month trash strike; Spritz used nine months of data extrapolated to a full year to adjust the figures. The Committee advanced its RFP Contract Workgroup efforts, discussing vendor interviews, a needed recycling audit to inform new contract negotiations with anticipated contamination clauses, and the possibility of adding a glass collection dumpster to the DPW's monthly metal and styrofoam drop-off program.
Helen Tieger will bring to the Board of Health a resident recommendation that a composting barrel be added at the Fire Station to divert food waste and reduce rodent activity.
