Select Board approves sewer lateral inspection bylaw for town meeting consideration.
Select Board · Meeting of April 27, 2026
SWAMPSCOTT — Select Board unanimously backs sewer lateral inspection bylaw for May town meeting. The Water and Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Committee presented the measure, which requires inspections at property sale costing $500 to $800 with deficiency repairs due within six months; the Board voted 5-0 to recommend adoption despite member concerns about enforcement consistency and homeowner burden. The Board also unanimously approved a lease agreement for the Hawthorne property generating $10,000 monthly rent, and voted 3-1-1 on the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget (Phelan, Grishman, and Thompson favoring; Fletcher opposed; Leonard abstaining).
Residential parking concerns on Cedar Hill Terrace were deferred pending additional enforcement data.
