Select Board approves Middle School MSBA Statement of Interest

Swampscott Select Board unanimously approves Middle School MSBA submission. The board authorized Superintendent Jason Calichman to file a Statement of Interest with the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the middle school at 207 Forest Avenue, citing building deficiencies including aging HVAC, electrical, accessibility, fire suppression, and asbestos concerns; the process timeline extends through approximately 2033. The board also unanimously approved a resolution affirming that town facilities will not be used for federal immigration enforcement absent lawful authority.

In a separate matter, Select Board member Mary Ellen Fletcher issued a public apology for a Code of Conduct violation related to involvement in a Police Department matter, and the board reaffirmed its commitment to enforcement of the Code of Conduct.
