Select Board · Meeting of June 8, 2026

Swampscott Select Board unanimously approves retail liquor license for Performing Arts Center. After a continued public hearing addressing resident noise concerns, the five-member board voted 5-0 on the new retail alcoholic beverage license for the Swampscott Center for the Performing Arts. Chair Katie Phelan noted the applicant should be treated fairly and consistently with other licensed venues in town; member Danielle Leonard referenced prior noise complaints from nearby establishments and discussed balancing resident quality of life with supporting viable local business.

The board deferred action on an entertainment license for the same venue to June 17, pending additional applicant information about the type, frequency, and timing of entertainment.
