ERAC reviews Amrize permit revisions in working session
Earth Removal Advisory Committee · Meeting of May 6, 2026
Swampscott Earth Removal Committee reviews Amrize quarry permit revisions. The committee, chaired by Joseph Markarian Jr., spent its May 6 working meeting with Amrize representatives and staff reviewing proposed changes to the company's 2027 permit. Key agreed changes include reducing Board of Health advance notification from 14 days to three days, requiring dust and noise test reports within seven business days of receipt by Amrize, requiring summer tests between July 1 and August 30, maintaining three annual tests with at least one during a blasting event, and making independent blast consultant reports optional at the town's discretion rather than mandatory.
