Board of Health members said posted signs appeared to cover high Kings Beach bacteria readings after rain.

Board of Health · Meeting of May 28, 2026

SWAMPSCOTT — Board of Health members said posted signs appeared to cover high Kings Beach bacteria readings after rain. George Allen said Kings Beach samples taken offshore from an outfall ran far higher than DCR sites on some days after rain, while Director of Public Health Jeffrey Vaughan said signs at every entrance advise against swimming for 24 to 48 hours after heavy rain. Gargi Cooper said the board does not run programming at the beach, and Kelley Begin agreed that the culvert testing belongs with water-sewer.

No formal votes were recorded, and the Health Director's report covered permitting, a Burpee Road trailer case, housing complaints and a DEP grant application.
